Rehearsal for SDB's Romeo et Juliet. Photographer: Gregory Olive. Dancer: Abby Avery. I rather like the line Abby is making with her arms. 3rd position elonge (pronounced eh-lon-jay). I use it often. Elonge means "to make long." Normally, a classical 3rd position would have both a rounded arm in Second position (Abby's left arm) and a rounded arm in a 5th position (in this case High 5th). But in elonge, you stretch the line straight, rather than curved. But the thing is that you aren't suddenly supposed to lose the good placement that you work on everyday in class. So if you notice Abby's elbows and shoulders, they are in the same place as they would be in a nice open classical position. Rather than by her ears.
Rehearsal for SDB's Romeo et Juliet. Photographer: Gregory Olive. Dancers: Abby Avery. More pondering of fate. Or is that Fate?
Daily Stuff - Almost there. Tomorrow, we have our fundraiser. All of the dance pieces are done. The program is almost complete. My suit is at the dry cleaner. I might just treat myself to a little pizza tonight.
