Rehearsal for Educational Outreach. Photo by Manny Rotenburg. Dancers: Stephanie Maiorano and Caitlin Sullivan. The first part of the LD piece comes to an end by a restatement of the original movement theme, but now the girls begin mixing the colors already seen. (Oh and by the way, Stephanie is running gracefully across the back because she exited the wrong way a few seconds before.)

Rehearsal for Educational Outreach. Photo by Manny Rotenburg. Dancers: Areille Meads and Noriko Zaragoza. And Noriko finishes the first movement with series of turns in a circular pattern from the earlier Gold section. Depending on the piece, repetition can be a very important tool. It can be difficult for audiences to process movement critically. Dance really IS a foreign language to them. Repetition of movement patterns helps give them something to latch on to.
