Return of the Blog!!
Hello everyone,
Sorry about the lack of blogging but life got a bit complicated.
As you all may or may not know, the San Diego Ballet has moved its base of operations to the new Dance Place San Diego. That move made my time away from the company just a little more hectic.
But now as we get ready for the remounting of SONNETS, it is time to return to the blogosphere. It is my plan to blog at the end of the work day before I leave the office.
The above (I hope it is above, as I have never tried to attach an image) picture is not being posted as an ad. It is being posted to show that the "glamorous life" of an artistic director is not always that. As the director of a not-for-profit, you often find yourself doing things that are not in your job description. In this case, graphic designer. Yes, I am responsible for designing all the web blasts for the company. While I would prefer to have a fabulando graphic designer doing his/her utmost to portray the company as the hippest thing since Top Chef and Project Runway. I simply cannot afford to hire one. So I do my best to try to make my vision of what SDB is on stage occur on a web blast.
The company is currently on hiatus and returns on Tuesday. Since the last show, a portion of them have been earning extra money by appearing with the San Diego Opera in Samson & Delilah as eye candy. Others have taken jobs teaching and waitressing. Ah, the life of a dancer!
Anyway, I shall return tomorrow with pictures of our new facilities (if this pic shows up) and some insights into our upcoming Shakespeare's SONNETS. That is if I get this County Grant I am working on out in time.
Otherwise, we shall discuss how government funds keep arts groups alive :)
